ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS

Sealed Bids for the construction of the Water System Improvements 2020 – High Street and Payne Road will be received by the New Shoreham Board of Water Commissioners, at the office of the Town Manager, Town Hall, 16 Old Town Road, Block Island, RI, until 11:00 A.M. local time on October 15, 2020.  Due to the COVD-19 social distancing requirements, the Contractor(s) will place their sealed bids in a drop box located at the entrance to Town Hall. Once the bids have been received by the Town Manager’s Office, one representative from each firm will be allowed into the Council Chambers in Town Hall where the bid opening will occur, at which time they will be publicly opened and read for the installation of 3,800 linear feet of 10-inch AWWA C900 PVC Water Main.

A PRE-BID MEETING will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2020at 2:00 P.M. via Zoom Meeting Forum.  For those attending the pre-bid meeting they are to contact James Geremia (Jim@GeremiaEngineering.Com) for access to the zoom meeting.  The Engineer and Water District staff will present general information regarding the project and answer any questions. 

All proposals shall be made on the forms furnished (two originals) and shall be enclosed in a sealed envelope marked:  "NEW SHOREHAM, RI WATER SYSTEM IMPROVEMENTS 2020 - HIGH STREET AND PAYNE ROAD" and shall be directed to the attention of the Town Manager, Town of New Shoreham , Rhode Island, Town Hall, Block Island, Rhode Island.  Each bid shall be accompanied by a check or bid bond in the amount of five percent (5%) of the bid payable to the order of the Town of New Shoreham, Rhode Island.  The successful bidder will be required to furnish a performance and payment bond in the amount equal to the contract award. 

Questions regarding the Plans and Specifications should be directed in writing to James J. Geremia & Associates, Inc., 272 West Exchange Street, Suite 201, Providence, RI, 02903, Attn: Mr. James J. Geremia (at jim@geremiaengineering.com), no later than 12:00 pm on Thursday, October 8, 2020.

The Issuing Office for the Bidding Documents is the Engineer:  James J. Geremia & Associates, Inc., 272 West Exchange St., Suite 201,Providence, RI 02903 (401-454-7000)

Bidding Documents may be obtained from the Issuing Office by request beginning on September 18, 2020.  Bidding Documents are available on compact disc (as portable document format (PDF) files).  If Bidder requests the Bidding Documents be forwarded by Federal Express, the shipping fee will be borne by the Bidder. Bidder is to provide their Federal Express account number.  Partial sets of Bidding Documents will not be available from the Issuing Office. Neither Owner nor Engineer will be responsible for full or partial sets of Bidding Documents, including Addenda if any, obtained from sources other than the Issuing Office.
