                                         JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

Position:    Coordinator of Human Services
Schedule:   10 hours per week
Salary:        $20.00/hour with no benefits

Duties:    Coordinator of Human Services for the Block Island community, to serve as both case-worker and coordinator, filling the role of Director of Public Welfare as required by Town Charter and the State of RI. Responsibilities include working closely with island residents from all age groups and constituencies, as well as with community, state and federal agencies, to provide necessary human and social services through direct service or linkage to appropriate resources.  The Coordinator will also perform administrative duties, keeping records and case files and evaluative reports.    

Education:  While a degree in social work, nursing or teaching is preferred, previous experience and related abilities will be considered.  

Skills:  Excellent verbal and written communications.  Ability to work in a non-judgmental way and recognize appropriate boundaries with clients.  Strong organizational skills.  Ability to effectively interact with many levels of government and individuals. The position requires an individual who can work independently, analyze complex situations and is a problem solver. Applicant must be able to maintain strict confidentiality.  Proficiency in Outlook, Word, and Excel.  A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation is required.
