Position Title:             Administrative Assistant

Supervisor:                 Town Clerk

Hours:                         40 hours per week (Schedule varies)


Union Position – Labor Grade D Classification (This position is affiliated with Council 94).  Step 1 starts at $14.88 per hour. Upon successful completion of a six-month probationary period, a step increase is possible). Family Benefits Eligible.
 

Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Access and Excel; ZOOM; experience maintaining organized electronic and paper files; ability to use a cash register, ability to read and analyze land evidence documents, ability to read and apply state law and regulation, and local ordinance pertaining to licenses.  Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to write business correspondence and meeting minutes.  Self-directed, organized and willing to work as part of a team.

Position Purpose: Perform clerical and administrative duties in the Town Clerk’s Office while interacting extensively with the public. Duties to include and are not limited to: acting as Clerk to multiple boards, committees or commissions; ordinance and resolution management; records retention management; maintenance of database of Town Officials; recording land evidence records; voter registration and assisting election officials. Cross-trained for vital records, licensing and Probate Court duties.

Education:  High School Diploma or GED, preferred Associate’s Degree or higher.

Job Qualifications: Preferred two years’ experience in busy office environment.

Special Job Requirements:   Valid driver’s license.  Occasional use of personal car for Post Office runs.  Attendance at evening and night meetings.  Ability to maintain strict confidentiality when exposed to private information.  Occasional overnight travel to attend training on mainland.
